Marilyn F. (Higgins) Skinner, 87, of Abilene, Texas was surrounded by family as she passed into eternal life on 5 June 2017. A funeral mass officiated by Fr. Adam Droll was held 8 June 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Abilene, Texas. She will be buried with her husband of 54 years, Donald A. Skinner, at the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery in Oklahoma on 14 June 2017 at 10:00 a.m.
Marilyn was born in Boston, Massachusetts on 3 October 1929. After marrying her husband, who was in the U.S. Navy, she lived in both the United States and abroad until their retirement to Sallisaw, Oklahoma, then to Victorville, California, and finally to Muskogee, Oklahoma until an illness necessitated her move to Abilene, Texas. With Marilyns Irish roots her fun loving and outgoing personality fostered family ties with whomever she met and left people with numerous sayings like, Top of the morning to you, Hello munchkin, Fine as a frogs hair, and You bet cha! At a deeper level Marilyns life experiences gave her the ability to recognize the abundance of Gods love and remained steadfast in her faith that she had chosen the better path to the fullness of life by living in Gods forgiveness, grace, mercy, and love.
Her survivors include a daughter, Donna Marie Kleman and her husband, Craig of Abilene, Texas, a son, Donald Albert Skinner and his wife, Paula of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two great- great-grandchildren and many cherished friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald A. Skinner, her daughter, Katherine Anne Taylor, and a granddaughter, CW2 Jennifer C. Hunter.
Her funeral arrangements were lovingly and professionally handled by Abilene Cremation Services.
