Leona Ruth Ridley, 88 passed away the 15th of December, 2017 at 4:45 A.M. in her home in Haskell, Oklahoma. She was born on July 17, 1929 to George and Livy Smith of Hectorville, Oklahoma. She began her education at Pleasant Valley schools then moved to Porter where she finished her education at Porter Public Schools. On July 8th, 1948 she married Edgar Dale Ridley of Choska Bottoms. To their marriage was born 6 children who were raised on a farm South of Haskell where they lived for 45 years before moving to town. Leona picked cotton early in life to help support her family as well as worked numerous jobs around Haskell, including 4 grocery stores, 2 drug stores, and the 5 and Dime before retiring, her most rewarding occupation was babysitting numerous kids of the Haskell community. She was a faithful member of the Free Will Baptist churches where she served in roles as Sunday School Teacher, Church Camp Cook, and VBS Leader. Left to cherish her memories are her 6 children, Linda and husband Rusty Criner of Haskell, Pat and husband Troy Fisher of Haskell, Charles and wife Eileen Ridley of Haskell, Gary and wife Vera Ridley of Muskogee, Melvin Ridley of Adair, and Dean Ridley of Sparks. Grandma Red is also survived by 13 Grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her Husband Dale Ridley, Parents George and Livy Smith, Sisters Helen Ruble, and Etta Belle Harker. Brothers Bud, Pj, George, Chester, and Pete Smith. 1 Grandchild and 3 Great Grandchildren. Services will be held at the Free Will Baptist Church of Haskell, 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 19, 2017 with Rev. Gary Ridley and Rev. Charles Smith Officiating. Her Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Interment will be in Haskell Cemetery under the direction of Dowdy Funeral Home.
