Kenneth's Story

Kenneth "Ken" Dotson, 81, of Denver, Colorado entered Heaven's gates on Wednesday, August 30, 2017. He was born on October 11, 1935 to Ottie and Nina (Montgomery) Dotson in Huntsville, Arkansas. He grew up and attended Muskogee Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1957.
He married the love of his life, Shirley Minnick, on June 8, 1957 in Fort Gibson, OK at the home of her parents. Together they shared over 60 years of life, friendship, and marriage.
Ken faithfully served his country by enlisting in the United States Army in 1958. He was stationed in Augsburg, Germany with the Battery D 1st Howitzer Battalion, 13th Artillery. In March of 1960, Ken received an honorable discharge.
After returning home from his service in the military, he started his own business, K & S Sheet Metal. He successfully operated his business for many years until his retirement in 2003.
His favorite hobbies included hunting, fishing, metal detecting, breeding German Shorthair dogs, pigeon racing, camping, woodworking, horse racing and being outdoors. He enjoyed going to horse shows and competitions.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ottie and Nina Dotson; his brother, Charles O'Neal.
Ken is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Regina Dotson, Jill & Charles Hibbeln, Jane & Doug Rogers; grandchildren, Sarah Hibbeln, Cole Hibbeln, Alex Hibbeln and Anna Rogers; sister, Verda DePriest; brother, Wayne O'Neal; many other family members and friends.
A memorial service honoring Ken's life will be Sunday, September 3, 2017, 2:00pm at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Monte Humphrey officiating.
