Kenneth "Ken" Cole, 84, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017. He was born April 10, 1932 to Lee and Gladys (Nunley) Cole in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
After graduating high school, he joined the United States Army. Ken proudly served for 2 years before receiving an honorable discharge in 1955. He then began working as a warehouse manager for Oklahoma Natural Gas, retiring in 1987.
Ken married the love of his life, Norma R. Phelps, August 3, 1953 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Together they had four children and shared over 63 years of friendship, life, and love together.
He always had passion for being outdoors. Ken loved to camp, fish and golf. He was of the Baptist faith and a faithful member of Southeast Baptist Church.
Ken was preceded in death by his son, Jim Cole; parents, Lee and Gladys Cole; brother, Grant Cole and wife Barbara; and nephew, Monty Cole.
He is survived by his loving wife, Norma Cole of Muskogee, OK; children, Diana Cole of Tulsa, OK, Kenny Cole of Muskogee, OK, Cindy Cole of Muskogee, OK; brother, Bill Cole of South Haven, MS; sister, Karen Cole of Muskogee, OK; daughter-in-law, Brenda (Cole) Moody; grandchildren, Colby and Lisa Cole of Muskogee, OK, Clayton and Stacia (Cole) Thomas of Muskogee, OK, Jeremy and Blanca Cole of Bison, OK, Dylan and Emily Cole of Tahlequah, OK, Taylor Moody of Waukomis, OK; great grandchildren, Camdyn and Cayden Thomas, Camron and Sarhayia Thomas, and Cali Wallis of Muskogee, OK; along with many other special friends who will miss him dearly.
Ken's family will receive visitors 5:30 P.M. - 7:30 P.M., Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel.
A celebration of Ken's life will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 17, 2017 at Southeast Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Murray and Monty Baggett officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Colby Cole, Clayton Thomas, Jeremy Cole, Mark Cole, Dylan Cole, Matt Cole, and Jeff Cole serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Southeast Baptist Church, David Boyer, Jody Boyer, Tony Cox, Steve Cumbey, Travis Cumbey, Dan Dunlap, Larry Isom, Rick Mullen, Benny Ross, Gene Seabolt, Lee Smith, and Ron Walters.
