Katharina Maria Dake was born August 15, 1934 in Drohmersheim, Germany to Anton Sebastian Hoff, and Eva Maria Schmittel. She passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017 in Tulsa, OK.
In 1957, Katharina married Darrell Dake from Vinton, Iowa, and shortly thereafter was blessed with a daughter whom they named Liana. Two years later a second daughter was born to them, Glenda. Darrell was in the Air Force and therefore the family lived in many places. When she was young she worked at a wine factory in Germany and after taking a sip of the wine she could have told you exactly where it was grown, right down to the acre. Katharina was a ballet dancer, and had even practiced gymnastics and swimming in preparation for Olympic trials, but didn't qualify. After moving to the states, she eventually became a beautician and qualified to teach other beauticians. It was one of her proudest achievements.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell, her mom and dad, by two brothers, and one great grandchild, Jack.
Katharina is survived by one cousin, Ria Butz of Germany; her children, Liana Wynne, and her children, Katie and Matthew Wynne; by Glenda and Larry Voigt, and their children, Tony and Angi Voigt, Becky and Bryon Smith, and Jonathan Voigt; and great grandchildren, Aydon and Piper Wynne, by Gaige Rogers, Grace Voigt, and Jude, Eli and Noah Smith.
The family requests memorial can be made to The Gideons International Processing Center, P.O. Box 97251, Washington, DC 20090-7251 or online at www.gideons.org.
Interment for Katharina will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church with Pastor Steven Alexander officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Voigt, Tony Voigt, Jonathan Voigt, Matthew Wynne, Bryon Smith, and Hunter Rogers.
Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home and Crematory, 1830 N. York St, Muskogee, OK. Condolences may be made to the family online at www.cornerstoneofmuskogee.com.
