Karen's Story

Karen Joyce Neisler was born 14 November 1943 in the Baptist Hospital in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Joe Ray and Theo Casey. Karen attended Houston Elementary School, Alice Robertson Junior High School and graduated from Muskogee Central High School in the class of 1961. It was the same year that Karen applied and was hired as a secretary in the secretary pool at the Veterans Hospital in Muskogee. Once established, she became a ward secretary until she transferred to the Chaplains service as secretary to the Chaplain. Here she worked until retirement in 2002 after 41 years of service.

It was during her employment, she married her High School sweetheart, Boyd Neisler on 29 October 1962. They were blessed with two children, Kevin and Brad.

Karen and Boyd made Muskogee their home until Christmas Day, 2014 when an auto accident required they move to Kansas City, Missouri where they presently live.

Karen leaves Boyd and two pugs in Kansas City. Kevin, his wife, Marsha also of Kansas City, Missouri and their two children, Kristen attending medical school at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and Michael, attending Truman University at Kirksville, MO. Brad and his wife Kate and their three children, Elijah, Isaiah and Adelena of Denver, CO.

Karen was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, NARFE (National Active and Retired Federal Employees), Blue Star Mothers, Pug Dog Rescue and member of Calvary Baptist Church of Muskogee, Oklahoma.

Karen is preceded in death by her Father, Joe, Mother, Theo and her brother Eugene.

A visitation will be held at White Chapel Funeral Home on December 27, 1-2 pm followed by funeral service at 2 pm. Private interment at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
