Julie's Story

Text size

Julie Ann (Plunkett) Wilson was born December 7, 1962 to the parents Rosemary Plunkett-Stith and Robert Plunkett, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She attended St. Joseph Elementary and was a parishioner of the church as well as an avid supporter of the school. She graduated from Muskogee High School in 1980 and attended Oklahoma State University. She married her husband and best friend Carl Wilson on October 24, 1981 in Muskogee, Oklahoma at the Church of the Assumption. Together they co-owned Muskogee Communications.
Julie took great pride in being a devoted wife. Her love for Carl inspired her to ensure that he had everything he needed to have a successful day, whether it was going out of her way to deliver spare parts or just a Gatorade. They loved to tackle large projects together, such as building their family and homes from the ground up. They were a powerful team.
Julie's greatest passion in life was her family. She was a wonderful mother with an endless capacity to love. She had immense pride in her children and more recently in her grandchildren. She loved every day spent being Gammy. She also loved being the oldest of the "7 Wonders". She felt it was her responsibility to fervently lead her siblings. Amidst a large and chaotic extended family, Julie somehow managed to unify us all.
It was of the utmost importance to Julie that the memories her family created be kept alive through photos and stories. She took pride in celebrating the past and paying homage to fond memories. She also crocheted numerous blankets for her beloved grandchildren to ensure that her love could be passed on. Aside from crocheting, some of her favorite activities included crafting, redecorating, junkin' with her sisters and children, and gardening. Ready to dig in the dirt, it wasn't uncommon to find Julie on a sunny day with a car full of flowers ready to add a little cheer to an unloved area. She had a love for all critters big and small. She was loved by all and will be deeply missed.
Julie is survived by her husband Carl Wayne Wilson; her 7 children, Whitney Grigsby (Jarrod), Scott Wilson (Jeanetta), Courtney Wilson, Adam Wilson, Meranda Wilson, Catherine Wilson and Hunter Wilson; her mother, Rosemary Plunkett-Stith; her father, Robert Plunkett (Brenda); her 7 siblings, Melinda Charles, Francine Baker, Carol Pelosi, Loretta Widmann, John Plunkett and Valerie Skaggs; her 8 grandchildren, Emma, Levi, and Jaxon Grigsby, Levi Jacob, Gracie, Jace Speir, Brinley and Colton Wilson; her in-laws, Carl and Alice Wilson; sister-in-law, Nedra Wilson; 22 nieces and nephews; innumerable aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was proceeded in death by her grandparents, Agnes and Curtis Plunkett, Cecilia and Simon Greuel, Georgia and Leslie Wilson; her step-father, Wade Stith; great aunts, Eutha Plunkett and Elizabeth Greuel; and beloved cousin, Esther Fisher Phillips.
In lieu of flowers, donations to a scholarship fund for Julie's grandchildren at St. Joseph Elementary, 321 N. Virginia St, Muskogee, OK 74403 would be appreciated.
