JoAnna Wilder Gogan went home to our Lord on January 9, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital, Muskogee. She lived a very full life in her 70 years. Born in Jamestown, Tennessee to Rufus and Gladys (Polson) Todd, she was the youngest of three. Raised on farms, she was instilled with a good work ethic at an early age and she took to heart in all aspects of her life. Starting out waitressing to provide for her and her children, she then began playing music with her brother, Sandy Todd. Soon after, she formed the "Bob & JoAnna Neel" duo with her husband at the time, Bob Neel, and had several chart topping hits. The most famous hit was "Daddy was a Preacher, but Mama was a Go-Go girl". After 15 years, she decided to leave the music business to focus on her family. Remarried, she had a daughter and began a career in real estate while living in Arizona. After returning to Muskogee in 1991, she and her husband, Frank, opened "Wilder's Home & Garden Center. In 1996, she and her daughter became members of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Soon after, they moved back to Arizona to begin a new life and start over. In August 1997, JoAnna married George Gogan. They were both very active members in the American Legion and the Moose Lodge of Avondale, Arizona. She was even the Women's Auxiliary Senior Regent one year. After George's passing from cancer in 2004, JoAnna returned to Muskogee to be surrounded by family. Retired due to disabilities, she played gospel music with her friends to stay active.
JoAnna was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. JoAnna was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Bernice Todd Doyle; late husband, George Gogan; and niece, Elizabeth Todd. She is survived by her brother, Allen "Sandy" Todd; children, Michael Harbin, Randy Anderson, Christopher Anderson and Danielle Gobin; as well as many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and friends.
