Jimmy's Story

Text size

Jimmy D. Risenhoover was born March 23, 1946 in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma to Same and Martha (Cooper) Risenhoover. Jimmy attended Fort Gibson schools. Jimmy passed Friday, December 29, 2017 at the VA Hospital with his family loves ones by his side.
Jimmy retired from the railroad after 36 years. This enabled him to spend more time with his family and friends. He loved the game of golf and helped those around him improve their game. Family meant the world to him and he always took care of those in need. A big sports fan, he loved watching his sons play and excel in football, baseball, basketball and soccer. It was a family joke that he and wife, Elaine, both had bleacher butts from the numerous games they attended.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his mother and father; sisters, Betty Moore, Katie Clark, Cleo Bailey, Pearl Wagers; and brothers, Troy Risenhoover and Sammy Risenhoover.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Elaine; sons, Jimbo and wife Kaysi Risenhoover, Jeffery Risenhoover; daughters, Brandy Shackelford and Tammy Risenhoover; grandchildren, Levi Buchanan, Patrick Bell, Dalton Buchanan, Wyatt Shackelford, Justice Risenhoover, Rhilei Risenhoover, Gracie Risenhoover, Presley Risenhoover, Taven Risenhoover, April Risenhoover and Trever Risenhoover; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and John Hollingshed, Sandra and Kenneth Hopkins, Sheila and Lonnie Haughey; brothers-in-law, Dennis and wife Sue Shackelford and Floyd Shackelford; sisters-in-law, Patty and husband Bob Clark; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of Jimmy's life will be held at 12:00 noon, Wednesday January 10, 2018 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Chaplain Derrick Horne officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the First Tee of Northwest Arkansas, 715 E. Monroe Ave, Lowell, AR 72745 due to the fact that Jimmy took pride in supporting youth golf activities.
A special heartfelt thanks to the VA Medical Center and staff for the care and comfort to our loved one.
The family has entrusted Bradley Funeral and Cremation Service with the arrangements. Friends may send condolences to the family at www.bradleyfuneralservice.com
