James R Adamek


James R. Adamek, Navy Lieutenant Commander (retired), age 80 passed away January 25, 2019 in Oklahoma City, OK. Jim passed away after a valiant battle with cancer. He touched many lives through his many charitable contributions.
He is survived by his brother Rick, Adeline Adamek and their three children (Laura, Amie and Jim) and six grandchildren.
He was born in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania in September 1938 and graduated from Ridley Park H.S. in Essington, PA in 1956, at which point he joined the Navy. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a B.S. in Engineering Physics and earned a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Naval Post graduate school. After he received his M.S. he served as a Nuclear Submarine Repair Supervisor until he retired in 1977 after 21 ½ years of service. After retiring from the Navy he started his own construction company until he became a department head and professor of math and physics at Connors State College in 1988, until he retired in 1998. After retiring from teaching he spent his time serving on the Checotah City Counsel (some time as Vice Mayor), helped numerous people with different construction projects, and played a lot of golf.
In lieu of a memorial service he donated his body to the OU anatomical program.
