Text size

Jack Holman Thompson, 88 years old, transitioned from this life Thursday morning, April 13, 2017. He was born to Luther and Jessica Thompson on June 20, 1928 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Jack knew from the time he was a little boy that he wanted to be a florist. He began working in a flower shop at age 12 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma with a friend of the family. After high school, he attended Northeastern State College for a couple of years where he met Willa Dale McCully. Jack enlisted in the Army and served in Korea for two years. After he was discharged he came back to Muskogee where he married Willa Dale and they had four children. Jack still wanted to be a florist so he achieved an Associate degree in horticulture. He worked for a few florists in Muskogee and then finally had the opportunity to purchase Lakeland Florist. He grew a successful business for over 30 years. When Willa Dale became ill in the early 1990's he retired early and sold the shop to care for her until her death in 1996. In 1998, he married Patricia Jarvis, who he and Willa Dale had been friends with at Northeastern State College and through the years. Jack sold his home in Muskogee and moved to Tulsa to live with Patricia until his recent sudden illness.
Jack was preceded in death by his father, Luther, his mother, Jessica, and his first wife, Willa Dale. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Thompson of Tulsa; daughter, Roxanne Thompson of Denver, Colorado; son, Bruce and his wife Cheri of Muskogee; daughter, Jill Morris of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; and son, Bryan Thompson of Ft. Smith, Arkansas.
