Horace Moore Edgmon left this earth on Monday, August 21st 2017 at the age of 85 years, 2 months and 21 days. Horace was born to the parents of Sherman (Pete) and Laura Edgmon on June 4, 1932 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. He grew up in the McKey area and lived in Muskogee for 75 years. Horace proudly served his country in the United States Army for 20 years serving in the Korean War where he served twice. He also retired from the National Guard in Muskogee. While in the Army Horace received the Bronze Star for Bravery. He also was on the Army shooting team and a member of the Cossacks Drill Team. After retiring from the military and fulfilling his working years, he spent the remainder of his life doing things he enjoyed which included, shooting, hunting, watching Formula One & being the Full-Time baby sitter for all the grandkids. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, Irene. Horace will be greatly missed by his three children, six grandchildren and six great-grand children and the remainder of his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Irene Edgmon of over 50 years. Three brothers, George, Doyle and Sherman Edgmon.
He is survived by a loving family which includes his two sons, Calvin Dewey Edgmon of Denton, Texas, Howard "Cleve" Edgmon and wife Tamara of Muskogee, Oklahoma. One daughter, Edie Darlene Edgmon of Muskogee, Oklahoma. Two sisters, Inez Williams of Sallisaw, Oklahoma and Grace Nicholson of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Six grandchildren, Sophia Edgmon, Ryan Edgmon, Brandon Edgmon, Ronnie Jo Ballard, Sammy Ballard and Cross Stewart. Six great grandchildren, Trysten, Damion, Kree, Onyx, Seila and Bostan. Many nieces, nephews, friends and a host of friends.
Visitation at the funeral home will be on Thursday, August 24, 2017 from 12:00 noon until 7:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, August 25th, 2017 at the US National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma under the direction of Shipman's Muskogee Cremation & Funeral Service.
