Ellen Collins Johnson, 74, of Tahlequah, OK, was born April 16, 1943 and died Friday, May 2, 2017 in Tulsa, OK. She was born to Ira Eugene Collins and Bobbie Ann Hattaway in Little Rock, AR.
She was raised in Muskogee, OK and retired from the Cherokee Nation in Tahlequah, OK where she resided and was active in the Cherokee Heritage Trail of Tears Association, Historical Preservation Society, Democratic Women's Association, and was a researcher of genealogy, family history, and all veterans of war. She was also very attached to the community of Webber Falls where many of her ancestors and friends remain today.
Survivors include her daughter, Kristen Ann Rosler and her two grandsons, Joshua Ryan Kiser and Justin Robert Kiser of Sacramento, CA; one sister, Cheryl Keltner of Salt Lake City, UT ; one aunt, Suzie Collins; one uncle, Grady O'Neal; five nieces, Tracy Leigh Dowd, Angela Tolman, Caryl Duvall, Amy Duvall, and Stefanie Garrett; two nephews, Torre Collins and David Collins; Her dear cousin, Virginia (Ginger) Johnson; and her great niece, April Lynn Dowd. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira Collins and Bobbie Ann Hattaway; one sister, Jeanne Lee Collins; and her brother, Ira Eugene Collins Jr.
Services for Ellen will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 5, 2017 at Meadowbrook Baptist Church located at 2421 Elizabeth Street in Muskogee under the direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home of Muskogee. Her viewing will be held Sunday, June 4 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home in Muskogee.
