Elizabeth's Story

Elizabeth Carol Pearson-Fountain, 79, of Oklahoma City, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 19, 2018. She was born on June 15, 1938 to Leon Jarrard and Pearl Ivory (Rasey) Jarrard in Webbers Falls, Oklahoma. Carol was a 1956 graduate of Webbers Falls High School. Carol played softball and basketball and excelled in academics. She attended Connors State College where she was crowned Football Queen. She later attended Northeastern State University where she earned a Bachelors in Education and a Master's in Education/Counseling. She was a teacher at Webbers Falls, Gore and retired as a librarian for the Mid-Del School district in 1995.
Carol married Wayne Pearson on June 13, 1958. They were blessed with two children, Arthur Wayne Pearson Jr. and Melinda Ann Pearson Tollison. She married Tom Fountain on March 9, 1979 and enjoyed 32 wonderful years of marriage until his death in 2011. They enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends, family and extended family. Carol was a faithful follower of Christ that was evident in her daily walk with the Lord. She was instrumental with assisting all of her grandchildren receiving their higher education degrees. She was an avid sports enthusiast, loved gardening, reading and enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. Carol had many accomplishments in her lifetime. However, she was happiest attending the many activities, outings and sporting events of her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Wayne Pearson and Tom Fountain; and sister-in-law Shirley Jarrard.
She is survived by her son, Art and wife, Kim of Gore; daughter, Melinda and husband Wes of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Dr. A.J. Pearson III (Tiffany) of Ft. Smith, Ashley Hyde (Matt) of Yukon, Lauren Stults (Kyle) of Midwest City, and Madison Holland (Caleb) of Moore; great-grandchildren, A.W. Pearson IV and Hudson Hyde; brother, Clentis Jarrard (Judy) of Muskogee; sister La Dema Poteete (Herbie) of Webbers Falls; brother Ronnie Jarrard of Webbers Falls; also a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that were dear to her heart.
Services will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, January 26, 2018 at Webbers Falls First Baptist Church with Dr. Dixie Swearingen officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with A.J. Pearson, Matt Hyde, Caleb Holland, Kyle Stults, David Jarrard, Shannon Poteete and Sherrard Poteete servicing as pallbearers.
