Dr. Leslie's Story
Dr. Leslie Ann Beard-Bond (1946-2018) was taken from us on Thursday, January 25th, 2018. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Martha and Charles Beard of Muskogee. Like her mother, she attended undergraduate school at OSU. She sought out the toughest positions in impoverished school districts where she discovered her calling to be a Clinical Psychologist. Dr. Beard-Bond received her Ph.D. from the University of Oklahoma becoming one of very few female Ph.Ds in the state. Outside of her private practice, she enriched the lives of others through her work with numerous organizations devoted to helping children and adolescents in crisis. She was an adjunct Professor at Southern Methodist University where she trained seminary students in counseling and was appointed by the Governor to be on Oklahoma State Board of Examiners of Psychologists. Leslie Ann was a long-time member of Boston Avenue, and most recently a parishioner of St. Ann's of Broken Arrow. She will be remembered for her devotion to her children and family, her passion to help others, and her intellect. During the darkest hours of crisis and loss for so many, Leslie Ann was always counted on to pick up the pieces and be a source of strength and solace. If only she were here now.
Leslie Ann is survived by her children, CPT Austin Bond and his wife, Jennifer Bond, Lindsay Bond and her husband, Trent Parker of Tulsa. Sister, Dr. Jo Ellen Beard of Tulsa and brother, Kenneth K. Beard and wife, Rhonda Beard of Muskogee. Grandchildren: Tessa, Ellen, and Charles Bond, and Jonny Parker of Tulsa. Nieces and nephews: Cassie Bachman, 1LT Vann Beard, and Kyle Beard.
