Text size

Doris Evelyn Mustain entered her eternal home on Thursday, February 2, 2017 while surrounded by her family at her home in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. She was welcomed into this world on a cool fall day on October 9, 1929 to her parents George Dewey Burt and Grace (Liby) Burt in Niles, Kansas. Doris has been a resident of the Okay community since September of 1968 moving from Tulsa. She received her education in Niles, Kansas where she graduated. Doris was known for her faith and dedication to not only God but to her husband Carl B. Mustain, children and grandchildren. Carl and Doris were blessed to share sixty seven years of marriage together before her passing. She is a member of First Baptist Church Of Okay, a teacher by example of the word of God, having served as Sunday School secretary for many years. She adored all of her family, being a woman full of love, faith, honesty, compassion, integrity, dedication, faithful to God and others. Doris was a strong woman who never lost hope and knew that no matter what she or her family was faced with that God would always pull them through.
Doris and Carl enjoyed the many adventures that they had together, from raising a family to running their own family businesses, Robins Roost Resort of Okay and Carpet Mart in Muskogee. She enjoyed life and all that life had to offer her. She loved going to church, music, working in the flower garden growing roses and azaleas, but most importantly she loved serving God, her family, and being able to spend time with them.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents George and Grace, four brothers, Darrel, Donald, Edward and Georgie Burt and sister, Stella Swindell. Left behind to cherish her memories and carry on her legacy of faith is her husband of the home Carl Mustain, son Dennis Mustain and his wife Sherry of Muskogee, two daughters Kay Hopkins and her husband Gary of Okay and Brenda Russell and her husband Eddie of Okay, two sisters, Veva Everson of LaFollette, TN and Edna Rossiter of Abilene, KS along with 8 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of church family and friends. Doris will be missed tremendously but her legacy will continue to live on through those who love her.
