David Wayne Smith, Porum resident, passed away on July 17, 2017 in Tulsa, OK. He was 62 years of age.
He was born May 4, 1955 in Muskogee, OK the son of William Floyd and Pauline Lorene (James) Smith. He served in the United States Navy in Vietnam aboard the aircraft carrier the U.S.S. Hancock. For many years he was employed by the John Zink Co. as a welder and fabricator.
David was a free spirit who never met a stranger. He enjoyed riding his motorcycles, fishing and working on cars.
He is survived by his siblings, Kathleen James of Tulsa, Shirley Robbins of Tulsa, Sharon Points of Muskogee, Patricia Ann Kirkland of Quinton and Gary Smith of Porum. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Charlotte Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday July 21, 2017 at the Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home Chapel with Peggy Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Navy. Arrangements are under the direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home of Muskogee.
