Clyde's Story

Clyde Ellis Pride was born November 26, 1936, to Elvon and Cleo Pride in Peel, AR. He entered Heaven's Gates on January 5, 2017, after an extended illness. Clyde graduated from Boynton High School with the class of 1955, and received a basketball scholarship from Connors State College where he earned an Associate's Degree in Engineering.
He and his brother, Dale enlisted in January 1958. They served in the U.S. Army Intelligence in Germany for two years and received an honorable discharge.
Clyde married the love of his life Helen Ruth Harper in 1962. They moved to Muskogee, OK. Clyde continued his education at Northeastern State University, and received his Bachelor's Degree in Math and Education in 1965. Clyde was a teacher in Ft. Gibson and Muskogee Public Schools. Later, he took a position with the U.S. Postal Service in Wagoner and Muskogee until he retired in January of 1999.
In 1962, Clyde became a member of Central Assembly of God Church. After 42 years there, he joined Grandview Tabernacle, and was currently serving as an active member of Christian Chapel. Clyde was a faithful servant to God, his church, and his fellow man until his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Peggy Blair; and stepmother, Zelpha Pride.
Clyde is survived by his wife, Helen of the home; son, David Pride and wife Yvonne of Tahlequah, OK; daughter, Janelle Ford and husband Dustin of Ft. Gibson, OK; brothers, Dale Pride and wife Faye of Broken Arrow, OK, Kenneth Pride and wife Judy of Bennington, OK; grandchildren, Dana Davis and husband Dallas, Taylor Deatherage and husband Brooks, Ben Graham and wife Elise, and Pandra Jackson and husband JaRod; great-grandchildren, Preston, Harper, Penny, and Josiah; special friends, Kathie Lipe, Kathy Chambers and Sondra Whistler; and many other friends and relatives. He will always be remembered as "Paw Paw" and "Daddy Clyde" by all who knew him and loved him.

Clyde's family will receive visitors 2:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M., Sunday, January 8, 2017, at Cornerstone Funeral Home.
A celebration of Clyde's life will be 1:00 P.M., Monday, January 9, 2017, at Christian Chapel Church with Pastor Rick Stephens officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum with military honors being presented. Pallbearers will be David Pride, Dustin Ford, Dallas Davis, Ben Graham, Brooks Deatherage, and JaRod Jackson.
