Clarilee McQueen, a long-time resident of Muskogee, Oklahoma died Monday, July 9th at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa.
Born in 1933 in Henryetta, Oklahoma, Clarilee graduated from Seminole High School, and attended the University of Oklahoma where she played the French horn in the marching band. The highlight of her marching band experience was traveling by train to South Bend, Indiana to play and march at the OU vs. Notre Dame Football game in 1952.
Clarilee was the bookkeeper and part owner of the family business, McOil Company.
Clarilee lived her whole life in service to the Lord through her many activities at First Baptist Church. She was a second grade Sunday school teacher as well as a member and frequent soloist for the choir. As a lover of Christian music, she also played the handbells and piano. Later in life, she played the ukulele in the senior choir.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother called GiGi. She enjoyed line dancing and attending the Muskogee Little Theater productions. One of her biggest joys late in life was traveling with friends, and her regular Friday night Mexican train dominoes games with neighbors. Clarilee loved good food, told many great jokes and had a contagious smile that would light up a room.
She is survived by her son, Kelly McQueen and wife Carol; daughter, Kerri Green and husband Russ Ingram; grandsons, Foster McQueen and wife Hilary, Mitch McQueen and wife Megan and Charlie Green; great-grandsons Cole, Gray and Sam; siblings, Ruth Twibell, RT Shields and wife Nancy, and Susan Hammond and husband Chris; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom McQueen; parents, Roscoe and Cleo Shields; and brother-in-law, Robert Twibell.
