Carolyn's Story

Carolyn passed away Thursday, October 28, 2016 at her home after a long illness. Carolyn Sue Laster-Smith was born May 24, 1933 in Muskogee, Oklahoma, the daughter of Luther Dale and Isla Housholder. She married the love of her life, Obal Vernon Laster on November 1, 1952. He preceded her in death April 13, 1981. On May 26, 1989, Carolyn married Cleo Smith of Muskogee who preceded her in death November, 2003.
Carolyn worked at Brockway Glass until the birth of her children and them became a full time homemaker and mother until her two daughters started school. She then became a teacher's aide at Longfellow school and eventually went to work at Muskogee Supply until her retirement.
Carolyn was an active member of West Side Church of Christ and loved all her church family dearly. She taught Sunday school for many years.
Carolyn was loved by all and no one ever heard a cross word from her. Her sweetness was only preceded by her kindness.
She is survived by her two daughters; Kari Bohnstead, Muskogee, OK and Tina (Rex) Robbins, Fayetteville, AR; 4 grandchildren, Jeri (David) Ward, Muskogee, OK; Zachary Sheridan, Fayetteville, AR; Jeff (Jennifer) Ellis, Lake Wylie, SC; Jeremy Ellis, Tahlequah, OK; and several great grandchildren, and one sister, Gloria Crossland, Little Rock, AR
She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Jimmy Luke Sheridan in 1998, a brother, Luther Dale Housholder, Jr., a brother, Franklin Housholder, a sister, Rhoda Hickman, a brother David Housholder and a sister, Betty Meehan.
Funeral services for Carolyn Sue Laster-Smith, 83, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at West Side Church of Christ in Muskogee. Burial will be at Greenhill Cemetery, Muskogee. Pallbearers are Tom Laster, Dan Ross, Dennis Bohnstead, Jeremy Ellis, David Ward and Ken Hudson. Honorary pallbearers are Raymond Smith, Ron Spotts and Brent Anderson.
