Bobby Joe Stanford, 63, passed away unexpectedly on October 30, 2017 at his home in Fort Gibson, OK .Bobby was born on June 22, 1954 the youngest child to Buddy Joe and Rose Love in Kingsville, TX. When he was a toddler he and his sister, Diane, moved in with Kermit and Dorthy Stanford where Bobby would spend his childhood.
After completing high school Bobby entered the United States Army. Upon finishing active duty he enrolled at Southwest Texas Junior College and began working for the Weslaco Fire Department where he would meet Gwen Kay Powell. They were married on March 17, 1979 in Weslaco, TX. In 1980, their daughter Crystal was born followed by Robert in 1981. Bobby and Gwen moved to Huntsville, TX in 1981.
In 1982 Bobby joined the College Station Fire Department as a fire fighter/EMT, while also working for the Huntsville Volunteer Fire Department. He retired as a Fire Fighter in 1997 but continued working as an EMT until 2012. Bobby moved to Fort Gibson, OK in 2012 were he began to work at Pecan Valley Golf Course. He enjoyed his work there and made many friends.
Bobby loved his children and grandchildren; some of his fondest memories were coaching baseball and spending time with them fishing and attending play days.
He was preceded in death by his biological father, Buddy Joe Stanford; father, Kermit Stanford; and mother, Dorthy Stanford.
Bobby is survived by his biological mother, Rose Freyna of Oxnard, CA; mother of his children, Gwen Kay (Powell) Stanford; children, Crystal Gilmore, Fort Gibson, OK, Robert (Chelsea) Stanford, Centerville, TX; grandchildren, Sebastein, Gabriel, Tyler, Audrey, Jennavieve, Ava, Jauslyn, and Bobby Everett; sisters, Loretta Watkins, Carol Berry, Lillian Stoneking, and Diane Gerdes; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
A celebration of Bobby's life will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mark Young officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Stanford, Sebastien Heidbreder, Gabriel Heidbreder, Tyler Stanford, Ken Perkins, Paul McWilliams, Phil Huffman and Marty Goeser.
