Bobby's Story

Bobby Jack Reeder (84) departed this life for his heavenly home on February 20, 2018. Bob was born December 24, 1933, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. He was raised by his loving grandparents, William and Emma Reeder. He moved to Muskogee at age 13 where he continued his education.
Bob served honorably in the United States Army from 1954-1956. He married the love of his life, Joyce Griffin, on October 12, 1954, at the Nazarene Church parsonage in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They shared 63 years of life and marriage together.
Bob attended Draughons School of Business and OSU Technical School at Okmulgee where he learned the trade structural steel draftsman. Following graduation, he was employed by Muskogee Ironworks for 13 years drafting electrical transmission towers. These towers were used to provide electricity throughout the United States. Bob obtained his General Contractor's license and started Reeder Construction specializing in commercial contracting for almost 25 years. He was awarded contracts to build schools for Woodall and Hilldale school systems in addition to many other large building projects. His most notable contract was from the Department of the Army where he completed Phase I and Phase II of rebuilding Camp Gruber.
When Bob retired at the age of 55, he and Joyce began traveling in their R.V. to all the lower 48 states, Alaska, and Canadian Provinces. Civitan Park was a special place for Bob during his retirement. He spent countless mornings walking his dogs, Grace, Daisy, and Duke. His love for animals was never ending and they provided much joy as did the friendships he made.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Marie Lafferty; his grandparents, William and Emma Reeder; uncles, Virgil Reeder and J.B. Reeder; aunt, Ethel Jolly and husband Bill Jolly.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce of the home; children, Jack Reeder and wife Renee, Teresa Loyd and husband John, and Sandy Psomas and husband Peter; grandchildren, Bobby Schupert, Erica Forehand and husband Jonathan, Jeremy Loyd and wife Kristin, Jordan Loyd and wife Kristen, Abby Psomas and Rachel Psomas; 7 great-grandchildren; cousins Dave and Pat Stratton, Ronald and Pam Ahles, Rick and Judy Thomas, and June Barker; along with many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Bob's family will receive visitors 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., Sunday, February 25, 2018, at Cornerstone Funeral Home.
A celebration of Bob's life will be at 10:30 A.M., Monday, February 26, 2018, at New Hope Baptist Church with Pastor Steven Alexander officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery with Bobby Schupert, Jordan Loyd, Greg Griffin, Alan Rowlett, Randy Griffin and Phil Goodnight serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be A.B. Clark, Martin Roach, Hank Willman and Don Hamilton.
In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that memorials be sent to Gideon International, New Hope Baptist Church, or PAWS of Muskogee.
