Bobby Andrew Gillispie, 70, passed away at the VA Medical Center in Muskogee, OK on Wednesday, March 1, 2017. He was born on October 13, 1946 in Fort Gibson, OK to Elmer and Ella Mae (Raper) Gillispie. Bob graduated from Fort Gibson High School in 1964. Bob was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in Vietnam from 1967-1968. He earned the Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Air Medal, and Marksman M-14 Badge. Bob received an honorable discharge in 1969. He worked at American Foundry for almost 17 years before retiring in 2004. Bob married Karen Satterfield on May 12, 1989. They celebrated over 27 years of marriage. Bob enjoyed the great outdoors. He truly loved fishing and deer hunting. Being on the Grand River in a flat bottom boat running his trotlines was his favorite pastime. He also enjoyed his bass boat. You could always get a good fish story out of him. Bob became a Christian on February 13, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Leon Ragsdale, Jr., Billy Joe Ragsdale, and Gary Gillispie; two sisters, Dorotha Eubanks and Jackie Stills; and two grandsons, Bailey Gillispie and Jimmy Robinson, Jr. Survivors include his wife Karen of the home, two sons, Jeff Gillispie of Fort Gibson, OK, Greg Gillispie of Muskogee, OK; two daughters, Shawna (Chuck) Ortega of Sallisaw, OK, and Sharla Duerksen of OKC; one step son, Sean (Maghan) Ruark of Piedmont, OK; and a step daughter, Tabitha Kreilaus of Tulsa, OK; one brother, John Nichols of Fort Gibson, OK; two sisters, Jinnie (Johnie) Karnes of Tulsa, OK, and Martha (Ray) Gootee of Oregon; nine grandchildren Ryan, Courtney, Dillion, Justin, Raymond, Krystal, Devon, Kelsy, and Zachory; two step grandsons, Bo and Graham Ruark; several great grandchildren, mother in law, Helen Satterfield; sister in law and brother in law, Georgia and David Wahl; many cousins, nieces, and nephews and a host friends. Viewing for Bob will be 9:00AM-7:00 PM, Monday, March 6, 2017 at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson. A celebration of Bob's life will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, March 7, 2017 in the Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lonnie Orman officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Dennis Johnson, David Wahl, Gene Clopton, Victor Wildcat, Wayne Carman, and Kenny Carman serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Johnie Karnes and Ivan Karnes.
