Betty's Story

Betty June Magoto, beloved mother, passed away peacefully January 11, 2017, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 93. She was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, May 30, 1923, to Clara and Edward J Russell. During World War IT, she served as Exec assistant to the base Commandeer at Camp Gruber, a US Troop Training & German POW Camp near Muskogee. After the war, Betty worked at the Victor Savings and Loan until marrying William Charles Magoto in 1948. Betty moved to Tulsa in 1955, and lived there until 2010, when health reasons forced her to move near her children in Houston. Betty loved life, was an avid golfer, bowler and round dancer in her adult years in Tulsa and Chairman of the Broom Gang a lively group of female golfers. She is survived by: her children, Joseph Edward Magoto and Nancy Clare Magoto and their spouses Linda Magoto and Tom Driscoll; grandchildren, Lee and Brandy Bischoff and Megan and Kenny
Lindner; great-grandchildren, Reese & Hannah. Graveside services are planned for Jan. 21, 1 p.m. at Muskogee Greenhill Cemetery, 1500 N York St, Muskogee, OK 74403
