Betty Jean


Betty Jean "Mema" Larkin was born to the late Charles and Sarah Colbert Thayer on April 17, 1930 in Haskell, Oklahoma. Mema passed away Monday morning, July 8, 2019 in Tulsa. She was 89 years old. Mema enjoyed fishing. She was an avid Oklahoma Sooner Football and Oklahoma City Thunder fan. Mema loved spending time with her family and friends. She worked for BIA and Checotah Indian Community Center. Mema was a member of the Timothy Baptist Church in Muskogee. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Robert and Fred Thayer, daughter Debbie Guthrie and son-in-law Gary, and grandson-in-law Chris Jackson.
Those left to cherish all of the wonderful memories of Mema is her sister Dorothy Parris, granddaughters Christina Jackson, Carrie Jennings, and Jessica Tidwell and husband T.J., grandson Gary "Bud" Guthrie and wife Stephanie, seven great grandchildren and several great great grandschildren, numerous family and friends.
Funeral services will be held for Mema 10:00 am Friday, July 12, 2019 at the Timothy Baptist Church in Muskogee with interment to follow at the Colbert Cemetery in Haskell, Oklahoma. Casketbearers will be Gary "Bud" Guthrie, T.J. Tidwell, David Ward, Tommy Snyder, Christopher Cheyenne Jackson, and Rocky Thayer. Friends may visit the funeral home on Thursday, July 11, 2019 from 12:00 pm until 8:00pm with the family present to receive guest from 5:00pm-7:00pmArrangements have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
