Betty Chenault was born on Thursday, January 6th, 1921, in Eufaula to E.C and Ina Hopper and went to be with her heavenly father and loved ones on Tuesday, May 9th, 2017. She grew up in Eufaula where she was very bright, passed through multiple grades, and graduated as the valedictorian at 16 years of age. She received both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education from the University of Oklahoma. She served as an educator for Eufaula Public Schools for 15 years; as a second grade teacher and as a principal. She married the love of her life, Harry Chenault, on Friday, July 27,1956 and moved to Checotah, Oklahoma where she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She was a very active member of the Checotah United Methodist Church and also Chapter BX of PEO. She was a woman of strong faith which helped get her through some of life's biggest obstacles, and she was a breast cancer survivor. She enjoyed life's most simple pleasures such as cooking and reading her bible daily, and she wanted little more out of life than being surrounded by family. Her family was her greatest joy in life and she has left quite the legacy. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry Chenault, and her parents, E.C. and Ina Hopper. She is survived by three children including her daughters Carol Abbott of Tulsa, Betsy White of Tulsa, and Harriet Chenault and husband David of Tulsa, eight grandchildren including Bud Abbott, Cliff Abbott, Marsha Eddy, Thena Knight, Ashley Medley, Stanton White, Jessica Keith, and Stewart White.
