Betty Jean Campbell

Events

Betty Jean Campbell, Age 79 of Muskogee, Oklahoma, our beloved wife, mother, and Meemee was called home to heaven, unexpectedly on August 4, 2019 at 7:24AM.

She was born on February 6, 1940 in Dallas, Texas. She graduated from Hillcrest High School and continued on to begin her most treasured job of being a momma in 1957. She met and married the love of her life on April 23, 1976. They enjoyed 44 years of raising a blended family, going on church mission trips and teaching Sunday School classes for 12 years. She was most proud of being a nanny for 10 years, before being forced to retire due to illness. In later years, she traveled with her husband to multiple job sites in many states.

Betty was preceded in death by her mother and father, Daisy Ruth and Jim Grandstaff; her brothers, George, Jack, dub, Earl, and Bill; her beloved sister, Edith; and daughter-in-law, Linda Wildman.

She is survived by her faithful and loving husband, Dusty; her sons, Randy Wildman of Muskogee, OK, and Rusty Wildman and wife Shawn of Forney, TX; her daughter, April Campbell of Austin, TX; her grandchildren, Randall Wildman and wife Deanna of Springfield, MO, and Baylei Wildman of Forney, TX; her great-granddaughter, Ruby Wildman of Springfield, MO; as well as countless nieces and nephew whom she loved dearly; her best friend and confidante, Betty Courtney; and other family members and friends.

A special thanks for the countless hours of care-taking, house sitting and errand running, which was all done in love by Sherry Lewis and her daughter, Courtney.

Betty loved to cook and had a vast library of cookbooks and countless recipes. She was an avid reader and loved to work crossword puzzles. She treasured her home and yearly thanksgiving dinners when their family would all pile in and fill their home with laughter, love and blessings. She was especially fond of her "African Room" she decorated with many mementos she brought back from a church mission trip to Africa with help from her best friend, Betty Cornett.

Betty was a friend to all, the center of our family, a gracious and meticulous hostess and her presence will be dearly missed.

A celebration of Betty's life will be 2PM, Thursday August 8, 2019 at Muskogee First Assembly of God with Dr. Steve Rose officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery.

Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home, 1830 N. York Street, Muskogee, OK. Condolences may be made to the family online at www.cornerstoneofmuskogee.com.

Dusty,
We just found out the day of Betty’s life celebration service. We do wish we could be there. Our days in Muskogee were made so much richer because of you and Betty. We cherish those memories more than we can express. It seems I remember you calling her “El Tigra” one day 😁. She was a special and dynamic lady. Our love, prayers and thoughts are with you and your family.

Dusty and Joe, I am so very sorry to hear of Betty's passing. I loved her and you, Dusty, from the time Joe introduced us. She was so fun and such a precious Christian woman. I know your hearts are completely broken. We do have comfort, though, in knowing she is with her savior, and we will all meet again. My prayers are with you all.
Much love, Marlene
