Berley John Keisler

Berley John Keisler was born on January 29, 1927 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and passed away on April 9, 2019 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was known as "Johnny" to his wife and relatives.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Berley Jonas Keisler and Agnes Susanna Desmond; his sister, Barbara Keisler Jones, his daughter-in-law, MaryAnn Keisler, his step-grandson, Ryan Goff, and his best friend, Tom Dukes.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine Keisler, his daughter Faye and husband Wally Waits, his son, John Steven Keisler of Williamstown, NJ, his step-grandsons Jamie Goff and Wally Waits, his step-granddaughter, Misty Haacke, and seven step-great-grandchildren: Amanda and Jessica Goff, Adeline and Eleanor Waits, and Kaylee, Savannah, and Dakota Haacke.
John shared a special bond with his wife Josephine. John and Josephine were married on June 2, 1945 in Oktaha Oklahoma. They were married for over 73 years. They loved to get in the car and go riding together. The destinations of their drives were not important, being together and enjoying the journey was the goal. During their marriage they lived in Oklahoma, Maryland (near Washington D.C.,) Philadelphia, and New Jersey prior to moving back to Oklahoma.
John loved telling stories about his experiences in the United States Army. Being in the Army had a profound influence on his life. He traveled and met people from all over the country. He met his future wife while stationed at Camp Gruber. He also made lifetime friends during his enlistments. He served a total of three years between February 9, 1944 and October 4, 1951.
John and his wife, Josephine were the owner/operators of Honey Springs Trading Post in Oktaha. After they retired, they moved to Muskogee. They enjoyed being together in their retirement.
John really liked to drive. He volunteered at the VA hospital, helping veterans with transportation to and from appointments. He enjoyed helping people. When his family lived in Philadelphia, he drove the Temple Lutheran Church bus, transporting elderly church members to services.
John was much loved by family and friends and will be remembered fondly.
