Belvie's Story

Belvie Dean Martin was born September 8, 1940 in Parma, OK, the son of Elbert Fox and Sylvia Ruth (Taylor) Martin, and peacefully passed away Thursday, November 2, 2017 at his home in Webbers Falls. He was raised in Fort Gibson, OK. He met and married Patricia Brooks Chenault on December 24, 1959. Their union was blessed with twin boys.
Belvie demonstrated a strong work ethic early in life, and it never left him. His first job was working for Arlis Ritchie's service station, then Blythville Canning Company and finally becoming a proficient butcher and master sausage maker, working first for Santa Fe Meat Packaging Company and then in 1973, he and Pat opened Green Country Smoke House in Woodall, OK, until his declining health forced his retirement. Belvie loved to fish and attend his grandkids many sporting events and activities. Belvie and Pat were longtime members of Chandler Road Church of Christ. On January 10, 2017, Belvie and Pat relocated to Webbers Falls.
The family would like to thank Carter Hospice Staff, Kevin Webster, Amanda Silberzahn, Tara Atchison, Misty Scott and Jana Lawson for the amazing care they provided. They would also like to thank Belvie's private sitters, Anna Lou Muskrat, Shelly Qualls, Sherry Lee Daily, Yvonne Johnson and Angie Montgomery for their unwavering support.
Belvie was preceeded in death by his parents, one brother Frank Martin and one great granddaughter, Mackenzie Dallis.
He is survived by his wife Pat of the home, two sons: Dale and wife Avonne Martin of Webbers Falls, Dean Martin and wife Patricia of Woodall, OK, granddaughter Leslie Martin Dallis and husband Jessie of Tahlequah, Lindsey Martin Dillard and husband Neal of Tahlequah, grandson Josh Martin, granddaughter Lauren Martin Barnes and husband Cody of Porum, granddaughter Shelby Martin Nichols and husband TJ of Fort Gibson, grandson Cody Skye Martin and wife Marta of Tahlequah, granddaughter Renee Martin Sierra and husband Paco of Woodall. Eleven great grandchildren and two brothers- James and Kanella Martin, Robert and Bobbie Martin and nephews; Brad Martin, Brian Martin, James Martin, Kurtis Martin, and James Dale Martin. One brother in law, Mack Atchison and his sons, Darrell and David Atchison of Okay, OK.
In lieu of flowers donation may be made in Belvie's name to the Parkison Foundation at 720 W Wilshire Blvd #109 Oklahoma City, OK 73116.
A visitation will be held Friday, November 3, 2017 in the Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson with the family receiving friends 5PM-7PM.
Funeral services are 10:00AM Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Chandler Road Church of Christ with Chaplain Kevin Webster officiating.
Committal prayers and interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with Cody Barnes, Neal Dillard, T.J. Nichols, Jesse Dallis, Paco Sierra and Cody Martin serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers are Atchison, Loy Lee, Dr. Bill Geasland, J.C. Dotson, Jim Arney and Joshua Martin.
