Anthony's Story

Anthony James Garrett, 60, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2017 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born May 11, 1957 in Long Beach, California to Clinton Garrett and Katy (Thompson) Garrett. Anthony attended public schools in California where he graduated from Westminster High and furthered his education at Golden State Community College in Orange County, California.
He married Teresa Ann Obal February 9, 1976 at Blessed Sacrament Church in California. They shared more than 41 years of life and marriage together.
Anthony moved his family to Oklahoma where he worked at Hilldale School in maintenance and as a bus driver. He was known as the "finger for the Hornets."
His hobbies included watching football, watching movies and anything John Wayne, but most important was spending time with his friends and family. Anthony always looked forward to mama's home cooking, raisin oatmeal cookies, and Ovaltine.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Katy Thompson; his grandmother, Liberty Thompson.
Anthony is survived by his wife, Teresa, of the home; daughters, Jasmine Pollard and husband Jerry, Rebekah Garrett and future son-in-law, Christopher McClearen; sisters, Diana Cameron, Mary Boyce, and Theresa Casebolt; brothers, Tim Garrett, Brian Garrett, James Garrett, and John Garrett; his Aunt Gi Gi; along with other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Memorial services celebrating Anthony's life will be 2PM, Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Darren Riddle and Dr. Kaylin Coody officiating.
